Almost there....

Well, we are one week away for our first 8 week fitness challenge. Moms have been watching what they eat, working out 3-5 times a week and cut out things in their diets that aren't necessary and full of calories and fat. The moms that have committed to this challenge are looking absolutely fabulous! I am so proud of them and what they are accomplishing. With the StrollerFit and Restore the Core classes they are losing weight, getting leaner and stronger and whittling way the inches. I can't wait till remeasure and see the final results!

Labor Day

When I was a little kid Labor Day was just another chance to get out of school. As I grew up, I learned more about what Labor Day was all about. But as I have become a mom and grown with my children I realize that all moms should be celebrated on Labor Day as well. Don't get me wrong, I am not wanting to take away from the significance of the holiday, just would like to add all of you moms out there to the equation. We has women work so hard to keep everything together. Work, family, friends, school, errands, house...you name it, you have probably done it.
We do so much for everyone and rarely take the time for ourselves and if we do we feel guilty. Why is that? Why are some of the hardest working people out there not comfortable taking care of themselves every once in a while? Strange that it has been that way!
Well, I am glad that I have StrollerFit and that I can spend quality time with my kiddos while I get in some much needed exercise. I have had those mornings where nothing is going right but by the time I am at class, teach and get back home, I feel refreshed and ready to charge the rest of the day. Sometimes it isn't even the workout, just being around my moms is enough. So many of them have such a great personality that just listening to them talk about their problems, kids or just a story about a night out, make me laugh and forget about my morning.
If it wasn't for StrollerFit, I probably would never have gotten to know each of them. It has been a blessing in disguise. These hard working moms are sometimes the life preserver I need.

So as you spend time with your families this holiday weekend take a second to think about your own mom, your friend, co-worker or sister and if you get a chance, give her a hug, let her know that she is appreciated and thank her for working so hard at keeping it all together. We has moms need to support each other, stick together and be there for each other. And remember all that work pays off but don't lose yourself while working! You are all very important!!
HAPPY LABOR DAY!!

Thankfulness

Okay, so I have unfortunately been away from my blogging duties for awhile and that is because I have let life take over. I am going to be much better about getting around to my weekly blogging...especially now that we are 2 weeks into our fitness challenge. The moms are doing such a fabulous job but I will blog later just about them because they deserve a blog all of their own.

It is back to school time and getting your 4th grader ready for their first day is surreal at this point at least for me. My little girl is one of the "big kids" at her school now. All the other kids will be looking up at her this year. 4th graders rule!

For the past few years, back to school, has always given me a sense of relief that it is finally here...peace and quiet. No more bickering between siblings, no more "Mom, I am bored", no more "Can we have another Popsicle" after they have already have taken it out and eaten half of it while the other half is oozing down their arms. This year is different though, my daughter has been an enormous part of StrollerFit this summer and I will never be able to thank her enough. As everyone is well aware of the economy, we had to make the hard decision to keep her out of summer camps to save some money this year so she had to come with me to class each day. That would be extremely hard on most 8/9 yr olds but she was a trooper. She was able to ride her scooter around the park as we held class. If we traveled the trails she was our "caboose" and always knew where to go and what to do. Her favorite thing was to be the last one in line and when we got to the hill she just loved to coast down it as fast as possible. She really did enjoy coming this year, so much that she felt and did have her own duties as well. That was if my youngest started to fuss while I was teaching, she would gently move the stroller around until he calmed down and fell asleep (class is during the middle of his morning nap). She did this for me many, many days. She also was such a great help in entertaining the other kiddos while their moms were running laps or running up and down our hill at our park. She enjoyed tickling them or blowing bubbles for them to watch and was always there for her little brothers. Mommy's little helper.

As the days got closer to school time we started buying school supplies and getting ready for the first day. On one of our trips to the store trying to fine index cards because everyone was out, I asked her if she enjoyed her summer and if she was disappointed she had been stuck with me the whole time. Her reply was priceless...."No, I got to spend time with my mommy and get to do what she does, help other mommies get fit and take care of my brothers and the other babies". "I liked being outside and working out like you."

Was I thankful that school is back in session, yes but this year I am thankful to have such a fabulous job that I could still teach StrollerFit yet still have great impact and infuluence on such a beautiful child. I truly love my job!!
Rylee I thank you for everything and I love you to the moon and back!
Love Mom

Can I have a Do-Over?

Okay, so this morning I get up, get ready for classs, get the kiddos up and fed. They decided it was not the day for them to be prompt so we were late for the first time in over 2 years getting to class. I only had 5 minutes to get everything out and ready to go. I unfortunately don't like being late so I was getting very stressed. During warm-up my radio starts to wind down and I realize my back-up batteries are on the kitchen counter still re-charging. No problem, I have the greatest moms and we head on strong and finished class.

After class, I decided to treat my kiddos to a day at the spray park on this hot day. We head there and get everything set up, the kids eat lunch and then are off to play. I realize I forgot a burpee for the youngest and head back to the car....and what do I see.....a rear flat tire!!!!! Great!!! At least, I am not stranded out a road, at least they have something to keep them occupied, right?!?!?!?!?!?

Long, long, long story and 4 hours and 45 minutes later I finally get back home. Burnt, tired, thirsty and hungry. I am spent! I am seriously trying to figure out how I am going to workout tonight....I really want to and am going to try and press on through dinner, baths and bedtime and then get on the floor and work out my core. Wish me luck.....I know tomorrow has to be a better day.....right?

Welcome!

Welcome! My name is Shawnie and I am the owner/instructor of StrollerFit in Noblesville. I am a mom to 3 beautiful children and wife of the best hubby around (Yes, girls I am sorry, I snagged him first). I have been teaching StrollerFit class for over 2 years and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. There were of course up and downs to starting my own business while have 2 kids at home and then having to continue teaching and building the business while sick with my last pregnancy but I survived…..morning sickness and all. The ups of the business (if you really want to call it a business…it is just so much fun) is that I have enjoyed meeting all of the moms that attend classes and helping them reach their goals. The time we spend together at activities outside of class has really allowed for us to bond and become friends in a lot of cases. Teaching moms to work for their goals and being a small part of them reaching a goal has become a true passion of mine. StrollerFit offers so much more than a fabulous workout, it offers moms a chance to bond with their baby and to meet other moms in their same situations all while get fit and fabulous.
The reason I want to start this blog is to let all moms realize just how strong they really are and that they can do just about anything. We are amazingly strong creatures and rarely give ourselves enough credit. Also, I want to hold myself more accountable for taking care of myself. As a mom we sacrifice so much for our families and we always put ourselves last. Now, I am not being selfish but we do need to have "mommy time" and help re-energize ourselves. I personally believe that happy moms equal happy families. If we don’t take care of ourselves how are we able to give so much time and ourselves to our families? We CAN reach our goals while balancing work, family and mommy time.

Through this blog I will check in periodically with my own personal achievements and goals, both personal and business. I worked out during my entire pregnancy and I was able to lose all but 5 lbs of my pregnancy weight in less than 2 weeks this time. Due to my Restore the Core™ workout my stomach looked much better after this pregnancy but since then I haven’t been able to find time for my own workouts. 3 kids, one which didn't sleep and had acid reflux, work, housecleaning and every day tasks...who has time for herself? Before, I would teach 5-6 times a week and still workout at home. That has basically become non-existent at this stage. But, not anymore, starting today I will make the time to workout myself. It may be at 11:30 at night but I will do it. I will check in and talk about how I try and keep my balance with StrollerFit, 3 kiddos, hubby and still find the time to workout on a weekly basis. I will also discuss what StrollerFit has done for me as a woman and for my family.

Keep checking in to see how I do and if you have any suggestions, ideas or comments on how you balance business and family, I would love to hear from you.
