Well, I have been meaning to write directly after convention but life got in the way yet again. Convention was abolutely life changing for me as person this year. I have always gone to get insight on the business of StrollerFit. Too chat and mingle with other owners. Meet new friends and hang out with old ones. Certifications, classes and new exercises and moves are always a plus but this year was different for me. This year I found ME! Yes, at a convention for my personal business I found myself.
It was strange experience to find me. Each year we are offered to participate in non-StrollerFit classes. This year I chose a spinning class.....something I used to do 2-3 times a week before becoming and StrollerFit owner. During this class I couldn't keep myself from breaking down and crying....it was so overwhelming I couldn't stop it and almost got off the bike and left. I was so embarrassed by my actions or lack of control of those actions. For the love....why was I tearing up....I am exercises....working out....listening to great music and a great instructor. I am in the groove....I am feeling the "hills"...I a loving the fastest of the downward glide....I feel like I can actually feel the wind in my face as I "sailed' down the "road. So why, oh why am I crying like a baby.
Afterward I talked with the instructor who is our President. She said I wasn't the only one who had approached her....you mean there were others??? Holy Cow!! After she took the time to listen to me she helped me realize that I was ME for that hour....ME! Not, a mom, wife, sister, daughter. Not a fitness instructor or small business owner. I was Shawnie....just me! I didn't have a care in the world. I didn't have a child yelling Mom! A person asking where something was. I was working on the next day's class routine or helping my daughter with her homework. I wasn't playing chauffeur or making dinner. I wasn't reports or making goodie bags for an event. I was ME and it felt great! Where have I been? What have I been doing? Where in the world did I come from. The next day, I got to meet with two of the greatest life coaches around...Chris and Louis. While talking with them and other owners, I realized I had lost myself in my daily life juggling act. I can't believe I had let that happened. Isn't that what I tell my clients to do? Don't forget to take time for yourself. Get out and do something without the baby once a week....even if it is just a walk. Hide yourself in the bathroom when the hubby is home with the kids.....take a hot bath and read that book you haven't always wanted to read. I turned into one of them! UGH!!!
Since I have been back, I have vowed that it won't happen again. I am taking the time out each week for me. Am I being selfish....ABSOLUTELY NOT! I recharge moms daily....I am allowed to get recharged too. Not only can I help moms as they Restore their Cores.....I can take the time to restore me!
Don't lose yourself!!! You can be mom, wife, employee...whatever.....but still be you!
Don't deny yourself a simple pleasure of a hot cup of coffee or tea by yourself as you watch the sunrise. Take 10 minutes to read your favorite magazine. You deserve the time and energy for yourself.

Labor Day
When I was a little kid Labor Day was just another chance to get out of school. As I grew up, I learned more about what Labor Day was all about. But as I have become a mom and grown with my children I realize that all moms should be celebrated on Labor Day as well. Don't get me wrong, I am not wanting to take away from the significance of the holiday, just would like to add all of you moms out there to the equation. We has women work so hard to keep everything together. Work, family, friends, school, errands, house...you name it, you have probably done it.
We do so much for everyone and rarely take the time for ourselves and if we do we feel guilty. Why is that? Why are some of the hardest working people out there not comfortable taking care of themselves every once in a while? Strange that it has been that way!
Well, I am glad that I have StrollerFit and that I can spend quality time with my kiddos while I get in some much needed exercise. I have had those mornings where nothing is going right but by the time I am at class, teach and get back home, I feel refreshed and ready to charge the rest of the day. Sometimes it isn't even the workout, just being around my moms is enough. So many of them have such a great personality that just listening to them talk about their problems, kids or just a story about a night out, make me laugh and forget about my morning.
If it wasn't for StrollerFit, I probably would never have gotten to know each of them. It has been a blessing in disguise. These hard working moms are sometimes the life preserver I need.
So as you spend time with your families this holiday weekend take a second to think about your own mom, your friend, co-worker or sister and if you get a chance, give her a hug, let her know that she is appreciated and thank her for working so hard at keeping it all together. We has moms need to support each other, stick together and be there for each other. And remember all that work pays off but don't lose yourself while working! You are all very important!!
HAPPY LABOR DAY!!

Welcome!
Welcome! My name is Shawnie and I am the owner/instructor of StrollerFit in Noblesville. I am a mom to 3 beautiful children and wife of the best hubby around (Yes, girls I am sorry, I snagged him first). I have been teaching StrollerFit class for over 2 years and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. There were of course up and downs to starting my own business while have 2 kids at home and then having to continue teaching and building the business while sick with my last pregnancy but I survived…..morning sickness and all. The ups of the business (if you really want to call it a business…it is just so much fun) is that I have enjoyed meeting all of the moms that attend classes and helping them reach their goals. The time we spend together at activities outside of class has really allowed for us to bond and become friends in a lot of cases. Teaching moms to work for their goals and being a small part of them reaching a goal has become a true passion of mine. StrollerFit offers so much more than a fabulous workout, it offers moms a chance to bond with their baby and to meet other moms in their same situations all while get fit and fabulous.
The reason I want to start this blog is to let all moms realize just how strong they really are and that they can do just about anything. We are amazingly strong creatures and rarely give ourselves enough credit. Also, I want to hold myself more accountable for taking care of myself. As a mom we sacrifice so much for our families and we always put ourselves last. Now, I am not being selfish but we do need to have "mommy time" and help re-energize ourselves. I personally believe that happy moms equal happy families. If we don’t take care of ourselves how are we able to give so much time and ourselves to our families? We CAN reach our goals while balancing work, family and mommy time.
Through this blog I will check in periodically with my own personal achievements and goals, both personal and business. I worked out during my entire pregnancy and I was able to lose all but 5 lbs of my pregnancy weight in less than 2 weeks this time. Due to my Restore the Core™ workout my stomach looked much better after this pregnancy but since then I haven’t been able to find time for my own workouts. 3 kids, one which didn't sleep and had acid reflux, work, housecleaning and every day tasks...who has time for herself? Before, I would teach 5-6 times a week and still workout at home. That has basically become non-existent at this stage. But, not anymore, starting today I will make the time to workout myself. It may be at 11:30 at night but I will do it. I will check in and talk about how I try and keep my balance with StrollerFit, 3 kiddos, hubby and still find the time to workout on a weekly basis. I will also discuss what StrollerFit has done for me as a woman and for my family.
Keep checking in to see how I do and if you have any suggestions, ideas or comments on how you balance business and family, I would love to hear from you.
